Karakarook Park

ANIMATED MARK

Karkarook Park is a diverse and abundant natural oasis, featuring a lake, lookout and walking tracks located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, on the land of the Bunurong People. The park’s 15 hectare lake is popular within the community with fishermen, kayakers and paddle-boarders. The park attracts visitors from all walks of life, to appreciate, and relax among an environment featuring a range of Indigenous plants and over 110 species of birds.

This brief provided the challenge to incorporate two defining characteristics of a location, into a combination, animated mark. In doing so, the mark should provide the audience with a strong “sense of place”.

Initial visualisations of key elements of the park were first undertaken, utilising simple shapes. Different combinations of these elements were then trialled, to create an clear and communicative figure mark.
